A Song Book of Possible Collaborative Strategies and Experiences
One of the key aspects of an inquiry-based classroom is the collaboration that takes place as students engage in learning, gather information, explain their thinking, share their work, and extend and apply their understandings.
I've developed what I call The Song Book - a collection of collaborative protocols and strategies for inquiry. While I've sorted them into the inquiry phases, the experiences and protocols aren't cemented there in concrete.
You'll need to embrace a bit of noise and have a regular delivery of butchers paper. And no-one's ever turned their nose up at sticky notes and coloured textas.
Play around. Have fun. Enjoy the beautiful chaos that is inquiry learning, as your students apply their skills to discovering more about their world.
If your school doesn't have access, contact me about PL opportunities.
